Soaring Kite Books is seeking under-represented stories about Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) protagonists that are rooted in culture and family. If you have an unpublished manuscript that you would like to submit for 2022 & 2023 consideration please review the information below.
Our Portfolio
We want children and early adolescents of diverse backgrounds to know that they matter early and often and we value representation in our uplifting books.
We are looking for:

Picture books for 0-4 year olds with 500 words max.

Picture books for 4-8 year olds with less than 1,000 words preferred.
-
Graphic Novels for 6-9 year olds under 72 pages for reluctant readers.
Submissions
AUTHORS: Typed, double-spaced manuscripts with 12-point Arial or Times New Roman font and 1 inch margins along with a cover letter in the body of your submission email will be accepted at connect@soaringkitebooks.com. Please be sure to use the subject line: "Manuscript Submission" and include the following in your cover letter email:

Illustrations do not need to accompany manuscript submissions unless you are an Author/Illustrator in which case they are optional.

Submission Terms: By agreeing to review a submission, we do not assume any obligation to refrain from publishing a book based on a similar idea, concept, or story.
Submissions close on Wednesday, June 30th and, as a small indie press with a big mission, we will only publish 6-8 standout titles per year.
